Yes so in the context of Jesus' divine self understanding the fact no explanation can cumulatively explain the relevant facts is bizarre. It's important you raised this issue because it seems as if you're dismissing the resurrection based off atheist presuppositions? Is this not circular?
Eg. 1. If God does not exist miracles can't happen.
2. The resurrection of Jesus would be a miracle.
3. God does not exist.
4. Therefore, the resurrection of Jesus did not happen.
5. Therefore, the Christian God does not exis.

For Ehrman this is ultimately what it comes down to. He points about Gospel reliability etc are a smoke screen. At more candid moments he admits Gospels taught a divine Jesus and essential Christian teachings have not changed. He thinks miracles are far too improbable to ever be considered.
